YOU AND COUNTRY MUSIC

It is only a matter of a few years ago that the talk was WHAT IS COUNTRY MUSIC?
(Country music is not like all the other music)

This is the time when artists like Keith Urban was starting out, and a lot of people said “it’s alright, don’t worry about it.” Well as you know now, that type of so-called country music has a strong hold in the market place.
I feel country music is in your soul and as you get older it will get a stronger hold on you, and that is a problem I will tell you about a little later.

This brings me to what is happening in Tamworth, the so-called organisers bring in rock singers to Tamworth Clubs, and their reasons being that it will bring more young people to the Tamworth Country Music Festival and that can only be good for the Festival.

Well let me bring this to your attention; I speak to a lot of country music artists on my radio program, and when asked if there is work out there the answer is no the Pubs and Clubs do not want country music.
Back to Tamworth; If those rock artists keep coming to Tamworth believe me the Clubs and Pubs will drop the Country Artists in favor of the rock singers.

They will bring in the young people all right, and they are certainly the ones who will buy the expensive drinks that bring in the good profits to the Pubs and Clubs.

As the more expensive drinks  are not  a favorite with the older generation, why should the Clubs and Pubs bother to cater for your musical tastes, as it only costs them money or profit.

Now here is another problem; we country music fans have been spoiled for many years, going to Clubs to enjoy some of the best country artists in Australia free. However, now when we have to pay for a show say $30 we do not go, and we say, “I will wait till they come to the Club and see them for nothing.”

Therefore, it really is up to all of us to support the clubs and Pubs who have Country music, and do go and buy a drink or two.

Well, I guess what I am trying to say is this, if the organizers continue to bring in rock singers you can say goodbye to Tamworth as the Capitol of Country Music for I am sure that the Clubs and Pubs will have rock music and drop the country singers.

So before it is too late make your voice heard, email, write or phone the Tamworth Council and show your support for Country Music.
